We're a bit late with this, but the Open Beta for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV mmorpg will be ending on September 19, according to the Official Final Fantasty XIV Twitter page.
That's three days before the release of the Collector's Edition and 10 days before the Standard Edition release. The PS3 version of the game has yet to see a beta test, but the PS3 version won't be out until March. Going by the way SE has done the PC beta test, don't expect the PS3 beta test to begin any time soon.
Despite a lot of controversy surrounding certain aspects of the game and what some consider to be a rather short beta period, it actually looks like SE is determined to release the game as planned. SE has been releasing a constant stream of patches over the course of the Open Beta, so it's obvious they are working hard on getting things ready in time for release. How many changes we'll actually see in retail remains to be seen. We have a little less than a week left, so if you haven't taken the chance to test the game out before release, now's the time.
